Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a Chartered Physiotherapist?

A: A Chartered Physiotherapist has a four year honours degree in physiotherapy and regularly undertakes continuous professional development required by the professional body ISCP. The letters MISCP after the physiotherapist’s name indicate membership of this professional body and are your assurance of a high standard of care. As such you can expect a high level of education with a professional and scientific basis of treatment.

Q: How do I make an appointment?

A: Please phone 053 9480861 or text on 087 9050561. Alternatively you can email rachelrichardsonmiscp@yahoo.ie

Q: Do I need a referral from a doctor?

A: No, you don’t need a referral. But if you have one please bring it with you, or any results from MRIs or xrays you may have relating to your condition, to your first appointment.

Q: What happens on the first visit?

A: The first appointment usually takes longer as a full assessment of your problem is taken. You will be asked detailed questions about your pain and previous medical history followed by a physical examination. Once a diagnosis is made the best option for treatment will be discussed with you and treatment will begin on the first session. The estimated amount of treatments needed, and advice on self-management to speed up your recovery, will also be discussed.

Q: How long does each session take?

A: The first appointment takes between 30 minutes to one hour. Subsequent appointments are usually 30 minutes.

Q: What do I wear?

A: Some people like to bring shorts or vest t-shirt depending on the area of your body to be examined.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: At Gorey Physiotherapy and Lymph Clinic we aim to keep your appointments to a minimum. After your assessment you will be given an indication of how many appointments you will require.

Q: Does my health insurance cover my appointment?

A: Yes, Gorey Physiotherapy and Lymph Clinic is covered by all main insurance companies. You can also apply for a refund on a Med1 form. Please ask for receipts if you need them.
